Kathy Gates Washington

Kathy Washington, author of Three Colors of Katie, lives in Kankakee, Illinois.  She received her BA in journalism from Western Illinois University and writes for an Illinois newspaper.  A mother of four children, this story is a true one of her daughter who did not feel beautiful about the color of her skin.  Ms. Washington wrote the story to help her daughter embrace her family heritage with descendents from African slaves, Native Americans, and Caucasians.
